BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The winter weather did not stop shoppers from heading to the stores to take advantage of Black Friday deals.
Staff at Tanger Outlets said they had hundreds to thousands of people head to the outlet to shop for deals, with some people getting there before they even opened.
“Nike had a line this morning wrapped around the building. We had Michael Kors, Kate Spade, so a couple pretty large lines this morning,” Ashli Lewis, the marketing director for Tanger Outlets, said.
For many shoppers, the day is an annual tradition where they spend time with family and friends.
“Nowadays everybody is so busy,” Anna Marsman, who was shopping Friday, said. “It’s hard to get together and it’s kind of a day that the girls get to get together and go shopping.”
Tanger Outlets is an outdoor shopping center and Friday shoppers walked into a winter wonderland to get from store to store.
“I do enjoy the aesthetic of being outdoors, going outdoors from store to store. The giant Christmas tree and snow and lights and everything,” Rachel Gage, who was shopping, said.
Mary Gage said her and her family go shopping on Black Friday almost every year. For them, it helps kick off the holiday season.
“To me, that’s what the Christmas season is all about, is just spending time with family and makes the dark days brighter and I love the snow and the cold. I love all the seasons in Michigan, yeah, it’s special,” Mary Gage said.
