GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Families flocked to Celebration Cinema North Thursday evening to finish off their Thanksgiving with a few hours of entertainment.
Year after year, it’s a sure-fire busy night for cinemas all over West Michigan. This year’s big draws are “Moana 2” and “Wicked” keeping the tradition alive.
“It’s mostly families today, a ton of families,” Celebration North’s General Manager Mike Doty told News 8. “For ‘Wicked,’ you get a lot of groups of females coming in. Sometimes grandmothers and mothers and daughters, sometimes just groups of teenagers. Any of the family films will do well over the holidays.”
For two Moana fans, their Thanksgiving trip to the movies was extra special thanks to their grandfather.
“Opa decided to take them to a movie because I know they haven’t been in many years,” John Grady said. “Unfortunately these days it is tough for their parents to do things like that. So, when they come visit, we like to make it happen.”
As for the kids, their favorite part was continuing the Thanksgiving feast with movie theater snacks.
