BARRY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — It was an all-hands-on-deck effort Tuesday as members of the Delton community gathered in a search party for a missing man.

Michael Hodge, 76, was last seen Friday, according to the Michigan State Police. In a Sunday social media post, troopers wrote that his family was concerned about his well-being.

“We have covered a lot of ground between yesterday and today, we have had probably 50-60 people searching,” Amy Planck, who organized the Tuesday search, told News 8. “This is very shocking because none of us would have expected this to happen. I just want to know what I can do next and I don’t know what to do.”

Planck said she owns the company that employed Hodge’s caretaker, who had seen him on Friday before he went missing. The caretaker noticed no abnormalities in his behavior, according to Planck. She also said Hodge was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and that this was very unlike him.

Planck described him as a “very very loving person, very sweet, very fun.”

Now, as days go by without Hodge, the community and his loved ones are left wondering where to turn next — hoping they can find him and bring him home.

“It broke my heart because I thought of my dad, I thought this could be my dad,” search volunteer Denise Chamberlin told News 8. “I want to do whatever I can as a member of this community to bring him home safe to his wife and to his family.”

According to MSP, Hodge often wears a black fleece jacket.
