GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Throughout ArtPrize 2024, the News 8 Live Desk will be giving you a closer look at some of the about 900 pieces being displayed throughout the city, hearing from the artists behind them.

Above,, Digital Host Phil Pinarski speaks with Johanna Kremer about her piece Green Man Meets Green Woman. The piece is housed at The Parlour at the CityFlatsHotel.

Kremer designed two head sculptures that are rooted in Celtic culture, something she wanted to embody. She explained in her artist statement that the piece will “embody the spirit of nature and renewal — the traditional symbolism of life, death, and rebirth — but with a feminist nod.”
