MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A dispute between a contractor and Adelaide Pointe in Muskegon has been resolved.

Terra Contractors had filed an almost $1 million lien against Adelaide Pointe late last year. The two companies also filed lawsuits against each other over the payment dispute.

Terra Contractors has now discharged the lien, according to a notice filed with the Muskegon County Register of Deeds Sept. 9.

Developer Ryan Leestma previously told News 8 Terra Contractors had been hired to install roads and utilities at Adelaide Pointe, a $250 million waterfront project located at 1204 Western Ave. along Muskegon Lake.

In a joint statement from Terra Contractors and Adelaide Pointe, the companies said the dispute stemmed from a “misunderstanding.”

“The parties recognize that there were differing perspectives and interpretations regarding the construction performed by Terra at the development which is commonly known as Adelaide Pointe,” the statement says in part. “The parties engaged in meaningful settlement discussions and are pleased to announce that were able to resolve their differences and the Litigation has been dismissed.”

The statement also includes a retraction from the Adelaide Pointe developer.

“Mr. Leestma and the Adelaide Parties hereby fully and apologetically retract any written or oral statements or claims which were made publicly or privately regarding Terra … including any statements and claims related to its business and billing practices or alleged misconduct by Terra or its principals,” the retraction reads. “Again, the parties have resolved the litigation in a mutually beneficial and professional manner.”

Terra Contractors told News 8 the company is remaining off the project.

A lien filed by Hudsonville company Van Spyker Landscaping against Adelaide Point was discharged in August, according to a notice filed with the Register of Deeds.
