GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Throughout ArtPrize 2024, the News 8 Live Desk will be giving you a closer look at some of the about 900 pieces being displayed throughout the city, hearing from the artists behind them.

On Monday, Digital Host Phil Pinarski spoke with artist Samuelle Green and her ArtPrize entry: “marshmallow polypore variant” which is displayed at the Kendall College of Art and Design.

The piece is huge and fills up the archway and room at the college. Green said she wanted to bring to people’s attention the things we might miss in our everyday lives, like a bird’s nest or beehive.

The installation itself can change the viewer’s perception of it based on the lighting and sound happening around it at each moment.
