GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The Greater Grand Rapids NAACP received a new mode of transportation to help serve its mission throughout West Michigan.

On Wednesday, Consumers Energy donated a new Ford all-electric transit van and state-of-the art charging station to the Grand Rapids branch.

Consumers Energy says the initiative not only enhances the community’s transportation capabilities, but also aligns with Consumers’ commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

Leaders with the Grand Rapids NAACP say the new van will help network more than 2,200 branches of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, helping to eradicate racial discrimination and building a stronger society in which all individuals have equal rights.
